Export WooCommerce with its exceptions
The native CSV is a starting point, not a functional backup of the store.
We export products with the metadata that matters, then check SKUs, variants, attributes, images, categories, prices and stock on a representative batch.
Shopify documents several paths: an early-access migration app for eligible stores, CSV, third-party app or expert. Supported data decides the route, not the fastest button.
- Product export and metadata
- Rejected-row report
- Complex variants in the pilot
- Method chosen by data type
Map the commerce models
A status, coupon or variant does not mean exactly the same thing on two platforms.
Products, collections, customers, reviews and historical orders are matched with their identifiers. Customer access, discounts and fulfilment states are tested rather than assumed equivalent.
Subscriptions remain a separate migration track: they connect customer, product, order and payment gateway. Copying an order does not recreate a valid renewal.
- Products and collections
- Customers and account access
- Orders and states
- Subscriptions and gateways
Prepare URLs before connecting the domain
Shopify’s route structure often differs from WooCommerce permalinks.
Old product, category, page, article and policy URLs are mapped to new routes. Redirects are imported before cutover and tested from URLs that people actually visit.
SKU, GTIN, variants, ProductGroup data, canonicals, internal links, sitemap and Merchant Center feed are compared together. A correct redirect cannot repair the wrong price or stock.
- WooCommerce → Shopify register
- Direct 301s imported
- Product and variant identifiable
- Page, markup and feed agree
Test as a customer and as the team
The homepage can look perfect while a refund or order email fails.
Before launch, we configure payments, tax, shipping, policies, accounts and staff permissions. Tests cover accepted and declined payment, refund, cancellation, full and partial fulfilment.
The final delta is imported during a short freeze. After connecting the domain, we check priority URLs, Merchant Center, campaigns and live orders without closing the old admin too early.
- Payments and checkout tested
- Tax, shipping and notifications
- Final delta without duplicates
- Old admin retained as evidence
Decide before cutover
WooCommerce to Shopify, with inventory before import
- WooCommerce export archived
- Pilot batch checked
- Subscriptions handled separately
- Redirects imported
- Complete test orders
- Final delta reconciled
