What this page gives you

  • What a good site actually doesTen checkable criteria, from speed to the contact form, without jargon.
  • What makes a quote varyPage count, features, bespoke work, and whether visibility is included.
  • The mistakes that keep you invisibleThe ones we see most often at small Belgian companies.
  • Which kind of site fits your tradeOne page, showcase or shop: what each assumes and what it costs.

Why a website remains a central asset

In its TIC 2025 survey, Statbel indicates that 9 out of 10 Belgian companies have a website. The scope covers businesses with at least 10 people: this figure describes the equipment of businesses, not the behaviour of all consumers. See the Statbel method and results.

Without a website, you are invisible. Or worse: a competitor with a clearer online presence may capture their attention. It's not a question of fashion. It's concrete. A good website explains your offer and lets people contact you outside opening hours.

In Belgium, your customers quickly compare the companies they find online. To stand out from the crowd, a Facebook page or a Google profile are no longer enough. You need a real site: a site that gives confidence, that opens quickly, that displays well on the phone and that appears when your customers type what they are looking for on Google.

What makes a GOOD website

Not all sites are equal. The difference between a useful site and one that collects dust lies in a few verifiable basics.

A site that opens quickly

Speed is measured on real pages and real devices. Google recommends that Largest Contentful Paint occur within the first 2.5 seconds for a good experience; this threshold is verified with the Core Web Vitals, it cannot be promised blindly. See official metrics.

A site readable on phone

A site that is difficult to read on a small screen – text too small, buttons impossible to click, images that overflow – excludes part of the public. Mobile, tablet and computer rendering is therefore part of the basic control.

Be visible on Google (referencing)

Having a beautiful site that no one can find is like having a magnificent store in a dead end. SEO, that is to say referencing on Google, is what allows your site to appear when your customers are looking for your services. The site is delivered technically indexable. The default SEO path is a separate €1,400 setup and €700-per-month service, including the starting audit and monthly article; both add-ons can be removed in the configurator.

Transform visitors into customers

A site that attracts people but does not generate any calls or messages is a failure. Each page must guide the visitor towards a concrete action: call you, fill out a form, place an order. This is the real objective of a site: that the people who visit it become your customers.

Common Mistakes That Make You Invisible

After analysing dozens of Belgian small business sites, here are the errors we find all the time.

The poorly adjusted e-commerce CMS / WordPress trap

CMS e-commerce and WordPress are not bad in themselves. The problem comes from settings, unnecessary extensions, a generic design or an unmaintained base. The technical choice must follow the need, the skills of the team and the maintenance cost.

A site that Google ignores

Many small businesses pay for a website and are surprised when they don't get any visitors. The reason is simple: the site was not prepared for Google to understand and show it to the right people. Imagine a book without a title, without a table of contents and without a summary: no one knows what it is about. It's the same for Google with a poorly structured site.

A design that looks old

Dated design, confusing navigation, or outdated information can weaken trust. The correct frequency of redesign depends on the condition of the site and the activity; an arbitrary date does not replace an audit.
